New WOW Moment: Mammogram

A New WOW Moment: I had my annual boob squeezing today (Should this go in the For Women Only Forum?)--Mammogram.......usually I leave with bleeding cuts and bruises from the sharp edges of the platform cutting into my fatty arms, armpits and breasts. They aren't exactly sharp edges but they are 90 degree angles and it is metal. All of which effectively does make a sharp edge. I am usually very sore for several days afterwards until the cuts have heeled. The usual pain/hurt from the pressure doesn't bother me as I have a high tolerance to pain and by the time it hurts it is already as tight as it goes and I could handle worse than that. So, anyway, this was such a blessing today that I was able to have my annual mammogram with no injury resulting from it whatsoever! Thank you Dr. Nunn for making my mammogram so much easier!

Update on JARSAM (Michele)

I first want to thank all of you for your kind words and Prayers for Michele. They must have all worked!! Today Michele had a PET scan which indicated that her cancer is contained just in her Breast....WOOOHOOO!!! She is very excited that it did not come from somewhere else (as Drs. originally thought). Her doctor believes that this cancer can now be cured, not just treated....YEAH!!!! She is meeting with a doctor from Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia tomorrow to discuss her treatment. Please continue to pray for Michele as she still has a tough road ahead, but a much better prognosis then thought before. I saw Michele last night for dinner and support meeting. She is just overwelmed by the support and love from everyone on the boards and she THANKS YOU ALL!!

2 weeks after surgery

Hello all!!! Well I had my 2 week check up. I feel fantastic. I love the way this new tool works. It is a real gift, that I will not waste. I have just started my soft foods. It feels funny to chew, and chew, and chew again. I also can't believe that it now takes me 20 to 30 mins to eat (a very small portion). I also have started taking my dog for longer walks. Believe it or not the dog can't make it so I wind up having to carry the dog a little. It is only 1.5 miles and the dog is little (maltipoo). It was cute.

I also wanted to thank everyone for the support. It has meant a lot. I hope to see some of you the first Saturday in December.

I'm so excited ! I got my Insurance approval today!!!!!!!!!!
I am so ready for this awesome change in my life . I can't not wait to feel healthier and not be knocking everything over with my butt! And looking to see if I can fit through that isle, fit in that seat without getting stuck,and not worry about fitting in amusement rides !!!!!

I heard from Megan (meoco17) and she is in her room after today's surgery. She was tired after just getting back from a cruise around the halls, was a tad bit nauseous, but doing very well. She said to tell you all she's up to a visit if anyone is around tomorrow. She will be released Friday if things continue to go well. She sounded great!

Megan, I am so happy for you! You know you can contact me any time if you have any questions or if you just want to chat. WOOT WOOT for you!!!

2 week Check up

Hi Everyone!
I hope this finds everyone doing well on their journey. I had my 2 week check up today. I am down 23 pounds since post op. I'm on soft foods as of yesterday. It is going well with that.
Dr. Nunn said I am doing well and healing well and the back ache that I have should subside in time, to keep in mind that the body had been thur some trauma and as I change so will the body and back aches are something I will have. In 4 weeks when I go back if I still have them he will follow up more with them. If it becomes intolerable to call sooner. I think I can control the pain with Tylenol for now. Other then that, I feel good, am keeping my food down and looking forward to moving forward with this journey. I get to resume work Monday if I wanted, I asked to go back on Dec 1st. I want to see how this stage of soft foods go for me,
So far so good. How are you doing?

Stricture Surgery

Hey All,

Well it has been just over a week since my 2nd surgery and everything is going great!!! i dont throw up andything any more!!!! I love this!!!!

However now that I can keep food down I have put on 2 pounds this week. Is this normal after the stricture surgery?? I was only 250lbs starting this journey 2 months ago, and have lost 55lbs due to not being able to keep anything down, now that I can eat I dont know what to expect... Like how much weight wil i gain before I start to lose again??

any ideas?

Visited Barix today for a second PATs and it went well. After some delays I now know my surgery will take place November 30, 2009. God, I thought this day would never come. Better late than never they say. Christmas came early for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So if anyone is scheduled for surgery on November 30 in Ypsilanti, drop me a line perhaps we can walk the halls while pushing IV bags or sipping chilled protein drinks, hahahahah!!!!!

I got my dates for my Realize Band surgery...I'm going for my PATS on December 16th and surgery on December 30th!!!! This will give me a little bit of extra recooperation time with the 1st being a holiday....YAY!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share some updated photos...my friend's had asked me to email them some pics...so I am sharing them with you as well. I found that for a couple of weeks the lbs' did not seem to be doing anything, but the inches were still coming down...SO here are pics from April 2009 (at my highest weight of 283) and then June 2009 and then now after losing 59 lbs!! It blows my mind! and, I feel fabulous! Thanks for stopping by...

Not a Candidate?

Are there stomach related issues that you all know of that would bar you from being allowed to have GBS? Ive searched so many places, I just dont want to start down this road and get my hopes up if Im going to be told out right that it cant happen. I have an ulcer and some serious chronic nausia... Anyone??
